Position Title: Financial Analyst

Location: 300 7th Street Southwest • Washington, DC 20024.

Duration: 40 hours per week

Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday (Onsite) and Friday (Remote)

Performance and Acceptance Criteria
• Financial Analyst at Journeyman level (Bachelor's, 2-5 years' experience) or Budget Analyst/Specialist
o Provides financial analysis and modeling, detailed financial and business process analyses, forecasting, risk assessment, and variance analysis.
o 40 hours a week availability



Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform comprehensive financial analysis to support organizational planning, budgeting, and decision-making processes.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate business performance, operational efficiency, and strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct detailed financial and business process analyses to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare financial forecasts, projections, and budget estimates based on historical data and business requirements.
  • Perform variance analysis to compare actual financial results against budgets, forecasts, and established performance metrics.
  • Support risk assessment activities by identifying financial risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze operational and financial data to provide actionable insights and recommendations to management.
  • Assist in budget development, monitoring, tracking, and reporting activities.
  • Prepare financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial controls, reporting accuracy, and business processes.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational financial policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Provide full-time project support with availability of approximately 40 hours per week.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of professional experience as a Financial Analyst, Budget Analyst, Budget Specialist, or in a related financial role.
  • Experience performing financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling, and variance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting principles, budgeting processes, and business process analysis.
  • Ability to assess financial risks and develop data-driven recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling tools, and financial reporting systems.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting public sector, transit, transportation, or government organizations is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Availability to support project activities on a full-time basis (40 hours per week).
